Al termine dell'Udienza Generale, il Santo Padre Benedetto XVI ha rivolto un saluto ai partecipanti al Simposio Internazionale sulla difesa dell'ambiente dell'Artico che si apre domani sulla costa occidentale della Groenlandia, sotto la presidenza di Sua Santità Bartolomeo I, Patriarca Ecumenico di Costantinopoli, sul tema: "L'Artico specchio della vita".

  "La difesa delle risorse idriche e l'attenzione ai mutamenti climatici sono questioni di fondamentale importanza per l'intera famiglia umana. Incoraggiato dalla crescente consapevolezza della necessità di preservare l'ambiente, invito tutti voi ad unirsi a me nella preghiera e ad adoperarsi per un maggiore rispetto per le meraviglie della creazione divina".

Der Papst betont die Notwendigkeit des Umweltschutzes

Vatikanstadt, 5. September 2007. Am Ende der Generalaudienze hat der Heilige Vater Benedikt XVI einen Gruß an die Teilnehmer der internationalen Tagung zum Umweltschutz der Arktis, welche morgen an der Westküste Grönlands unter dem Vorsitz Seiner Heiligkeit Bartolomäus I, des ökumenischen Patriarchen von Konstantinopel, mit dem Thema „Die Arktis, ein Spiegel des Lebens“.eröffnet wird.

..“Der Schutz der Wasser-Ressourcen und die Aufmerksamkeit gegenüber den Klimaveränderungen sind Fragen von grundlegender Bedeutung für die gesamte Menschheitsfamilie. Ermutigt durch das wachsende Bewußtsein der Notwendigkeit, die Umwelt zu schützen, lade ich euch alle ein, sich mit mir im Gebet zu verbinden und sich einzusetzen für eine größere Achtung vor den Wundern der göttlichen Schöpfung.“

VATICAN CITY, SEP 5, 2007 (VIS) - At the end of today's general audience, Benedict XVI turned his attention to an international symposium on the defense of the Arctic, which begins tomorrow on the west coast of Greenland under the presidency of the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew I of Constantinople. The theme of the meeting is: "The Arctic: Mirror of Life."

Speaking English, the Pope said: "Care of water resources and attention to climate change are matters of grave importance for the entire human family. Encouraged by the growing recognition of the need to preserve the environment, I invite all of you to join me in praying and working for greater respect for the wonders of God's creation."

"La protection des ressources hydriques et l'attention à l'évolution du climat sont des sujets capitaux pour l'humanité", a dit le Pape. "Soutenant l'attention croissante sur la nécessité de préserver la nature, je vous invite tous à vous unir dans la prière et dans l'action au respect des merveilles de la création".
